(Sept 22) - [Closed] - We will be speaking with senior leaders at the TVDSB (superintendents, managers and system principals) about how religious literacy can inform the classroom, the workplace, and foster better community relations. The schoolboard has schools with quite varied demographics and we will explore how to create a better environment and more cohesion between staff, students and the broader community.

(Sept 24) - [Closed] - We will visit a university world religions class to discuss how the very understanding of "religion" in the west has been shaped so profoundly by Biblical religion that it inhibits the ability to understand other religions clearly. The talk also uses religious objects to explore "lived religion."

(Oct 24) - [Closed] - We will be taking graduate students studying religion to three houses of worship to meet leaders, observe ritual and share a meal, providing lived exposure to these communities these students study.

Brian will be part of a panel for the Department of the Study of Religion at the University of Toronto that focuses on PhD graduates who are using religious academic studies in ways that promote a positive impact in the community.

We visited three houses of worship in the GTA with master's and PhD students from the University of Toronto's Centre for the Study of Religion. Brian got his PhD from this centre and looks forward to the opportunity to pay it back as we learn about religious communities in practice.

During this session, we reviewed extracurricular approaches to religious studies in schools with the panel at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Brian was a guest speaker at the University of Toronto's business school, addressing a class titled "Managing People in the Context of Globalization." He spoke about religious literacy in work environments and how it contributes to a stronger, more productive workplace.
